doctor got back to me and given the exact test results, he thinks it's not "kind of scary autoimmune condition Y" (rheumatoid arthritis, which is also apparently not as scary as I thought it was with late-in-life onset), it's "not-great-but-less-scary condition X" (ordinary average osteoarthritis).

and I suppose either way I'm looking forward to shiny new chronic pain and reduced mobility in my hands and wrists.

corporeal form, as noted, is bullshit.

fuck corporeality. i'm so sorry you have this to deal with, bb. (anti-inflammatory diet and moving more, is what i tell myself. and yet i huddle here on the sofa? it's HARD.)

right? I can already hear my father-in-law telling me (again) about how her arthritis hasn't bothered her at all since she cut out sugar, and yet...

(FIL was in her 60s when she transitioned and we agreed that 'dad' was still a good thing to call her.)
