worst. staycation. ever.
Jul. 3rd, 2023 10:57 amokay, maybe not "worst ever" but not what I had imagined happening when I gave myself a 4-day weekend.
- the concert I had planned to attend on Thursday was outdoors, but the local AQI was over 200. I am frankly astonished they didn't move it to the indoor backup venue because if I were a singer I would not want to draw air that I could see into my precious lungs. I did not attend.
- spent the whole weekend with hand pain at a 3-4 which I know is comparatively nothing but, as Husband pointed out, the usual amount of pain you should be experiencing is 0.
- I am apparently done with the Civilization 6 mood and back to Stardew Valley. I started a new farm with random community center slots and got a set of bundles for the greenhouse that I needed only chickens, goats, and cows to complete. Score!
- I read a couple books and a long fanfic. This screwed up my sleep schedule miserably. had a long, terrible nap Saturday afternoon.
- Watched, over daughter's shoulder, a couple videos about recent History of Science - the decision by the US government not to go ahead with the Superconducting Supercollider, and also the fraud and ethical scandals in human embryonic stem cell research by Hwang Woo-Suk.
- yesterday my allergies were bad enough that I took the purple antihistamine. apparently the purple one is one of the ones that will knock me the heck out because I had another long, terrible nap and further screwed up my sleep schedule. had frequent wakeups and weird dreams all night. nobody has parked the school bus they used to transport their extended family to Ann Arbor to be present for a family member's surgery in the backyard. nor am I sitting at a rest area watching the cops harass/arrest every Muslim family to pull through while I wait for my dad to come back and pick me up (although an owl demanded to snuggle with me in that one which I guess was cool, but the owl was sharp.) (is it weird that I can feel 'sharp' in my dreams?) nor did I lose a hair tie on Mars and get kidnapped when I went to look for it.
am back at work today. feel hung over. antihistamine has worn off vis-a-vis snot but I a) can't take another one until this afternoon and b) shouldn't pass out on my desk anyways. hand pain is down to a 1-2 which is good? I guess?
did not:
- garden
- sew, knit, or do the stenciling on that shirt I want to decorate
- recycle plastic bags and styrofoam
- wander around town collecting library game codes
but I suppose there's always tomorrow and next weekend.

Date: 2023-07-05 02:23 am (UTC)I reread Sami's "Ridiculous Future Bullshit" series and lo, when I finished there was a new work in the series.
Then I reread "Paper Moon", the OG of that series, and lo, when I finished there was another new Ridiculous Future Bullshit work? (and also it counted for library game points.)
(I love her headcanon about Nie Huisang's harem, and also I am unduly tickled by WWX and JC creating survival training courses for juniors that allow them to compete over how many juniors they can "kill".)

Date: 2023-07-20 11:33 pm (UTC)if you actually want a beta I will do that? but I might suggest that there is a really good reason you might not be hearing the muse right this minute.
